Y chromosomes carrying the properties of maleness, whereas the X chromosome contains the attributes of femininity. Inside the mother's egg cell only found the X chromosome, which determines the properties of womanhood. In the semen of the father, there is a sperm-sperm containing the X chromosome or the Y chromosome only. So, the baby's sex depends on the type of sex chromosomes in the sperm fertilize the egg, whether X or Y. In other words, as stated in the verse, determining the sex of the baby is the semen, which comes from the father. Knowledge about it, that could not have known at the time the Qur'an was revealed, is evidence of the fact that the Qur'an is the word of God. |
"He Who created in pairs of men and women, from semen, when emitted." (Qur'an, 53:45-46)
Branches of science that develops as genetics and molecular biology have scientifically validated the accuracy of information provided this Koran. It is now understood that sex is determined by the sperm cells from the male, and that women do not play a role in this process of sex determination.
Chromosomes are the main elements in determining sex. Two of the 46 chromosomes that determine the shape of a man known as the sex chromosomes. Two chromosomes are called "XY" in men, and "XX" in females. Naming is based on the shape of the chromosome that resembles the shape of these letters. Y chromosomes carry genes that encode the properties of maleness, while the X chromosome carrying the genes coding for traits of femininity.
The establishment of a new human cross originated from the merger of one of these chromosomes, which in men and women exist in a state pairs. In women, both the sex cells, which split into two events during ovulation, carry X chromosomes In contrast, a male sex cell to produce two different sperm cells, one containing the X chromosome, and the other containing the Y chromosome If one egg berkromosom X of these women joined with sperm carrying the Y chromosome, the baby will be born male.
In other words, a baby's sex is determined by which chromosome from the male unites with the female egg cell.
None of this was known until the discovery of genetics in the 20th century. Even in many societies, it is believed that the baby's sex is determined by the female. This is why women are blamed when they gave birth to a baby girl.
However, thirteen centuries before the discovery of human genes, the Qur'an revealed information that abolished this superstitious belief, and states that she is not a determinant of the sex of the baby, but the semen of men.
